Teradata QueryGrid 1.0 within the Public Cloud

When configuring Teradata QueryGrid for connections between Teradata Database, Teradata Aster, or Hadoop systems in the public cloud, define network settings in the security groups as listed below.

The following terms are used in the table below:
  • Local system as the system on which the user logs on.
  • Remote system as the system that the user accesses using the foreign server grammar.

Allows connection to the remote Teradata, Aster, or Hadoop VM.

Specifies the remote Teradata Database VM security group as the source.

Allows connection and transfer from the remote Teradata, Aster, or Hadoop VM.

Specifies the remote Teradata Database VM security group as the source.

Allows connection from the local Teradata Database VM using JDBC.

Specifies the local Teradata Database VM security group as the source.

Teradata Aster VM Inbound
  • 8080
  • 21337
Allows communication from the Teradata Database VM to the Azure Aster VM.
Note:
These ports must be opened on all Teradata Aster nodes.
In addition, define the foreign server objects as follows:
  • Use the private IP address of the remote and local Teradata Database VMs on Azure. The remote and local VMs are used in the local_ips, remotehost and remote server clauses.
  • To connect to Microsoft Azure HDInsight, add dfstype <wasb>.
