Configuring a Teradata Viewpoint VM for DSC

Prerequisite
To configure a portlet on a Viewpoint VM, you must know the admin password for the Viewpoint portal. Obtaining that password is part of configuring Teradata Viewpoint.
You must configure a Teradata Viewpoint VM if you plan to use the BAR Setup and BAR Operations portlets in Teradata Viewpoint.
  1. From the Azure portal, note the following of the DSC VM:
    • The private IP address.
    • If applicable, either the public IP or public DNS.
  2. From the SSH client console, connect to the Viewpoint VM by logging on to the VM using the same authentication type you chose when you deployed the VM using the Teradata ecosystem solution template or the single VM from an image.
    Authentication type Action
SSH public key Enter the following:
    # ssh -i ssh-private-key.pem azureuser@VM-public-IP-address or VM-public-DNS-address
    where:
    • The ssh-private-key is the private key file (.pem) specified when you deployed the VM.
    • The azureuser is the user name specified when you deployed the VM.
    • The VM-public-IP-address or VM-public-DNS-address is the DNS host name or public IP address of the Viewpoint VM.
    Password Enter the following:
    # ssh azureuser@VM-public-IP-address or VM-public-DNS-address
    Password: password
    where:
    • The azureuser is the user name specified when you deployed the Viewpoint VM.
    • The VM-public-IP-address or VM-public-DNS-address is the DNS host name or public IP address of the Viewpoint VM.
    • The password is the password specified when you deployed the Viewpoint VM.
  3. Switch to the root user environment.
    # sudo su -
  4. Edit the barportlet.properties file to change the private DNS name of the DSC VM.
    # cd /etc/opt/teradata/dsa/config/barportlet.properties
    broker.url=IP-address
where IP-address is the private IP address or the private DNS name of the DSC VM.
  5. Restart Viewpoint.
    # /etc/init.d/viewpoint restart
The BAR Setup and BAR Operations portlets in Teradata Viewpoint are ready to use. For more information, see the Teradata Data Stream Architecture User Guide.
