Overview of Storage Types
Teradata Database on Azure products support multiple VM sizes of differing characteristics. In addition, Teradata DSC VMs use block Blob storage as a backup destination. Each storage type carries implications for persistence, performance, capacity, and cost.
When deploying Teradata Database on Azure, premium managed disks are used with one exception. Unmanaged premium storage disks are used when deploying Teradata Data Mover from a solution template. For more information, see Azure Managed Disks.
On deployment, the Teradata solution template automatically creates and attaches the required premium managed disks and also creates standard storage accounts for the VM boot diagnostics information. If you deploy an individual Teradata product VM using an image, you select the storage type during deployment. The default is premium managed disks.
